Seattle Seahawks owner Vinod Khosla has navigated both sides of the political aisle throughout his career, but this election cycle finds him firmly supporting the Democrats.
In July, Khosla finalized his purchase of the Seahawks for $9.612 billion. The transaction set a new NFL record, surpassing the previous high of $6.05 billion paid for the Washington Commanders in 2023.
Alongside his wife Neeru and son Neal, Khosla assumed ownership of the Seahawks franchise – the reigning Super Bowl champions – from the estate of the late Paul Allen, who helmed the team from 1997 until his passing in 2018. Despite his ownership status, Khosla has chosen not to manage day-to-day operations of the Seahawks, instead delegating control to Neeru.
Nevertheless, as the public face of ownership, Khosla represents the NFC West franchise, which recently topped the Kansas City Chiefs to climb above. 500.

With the midterm elections approaching within days, professional sports franchise owners have poured tens of millions of dollars into campaigns – and according to Front Office Sports, Khosla represents one of the few supporting Democrats. He directed his contributions to a Senate Democratic PAC during the 2025-26 election cycle.
Khosla ranked as the second-highest spending NFL owner during this election cycle, surpassed only by Denver Broncos owner Rob Walton. Atlanta Falcons owner Arthur Blank was the sole other NFL owner to appear on the list.
Yet, according to FOS, Federal Election Commission records reveal that beyond Khosla and Blank, “nearly every NFL dollar spent on Tuesday’s races went toward Republicans, led by the Walton-Penner family who owns the Broncos.”
Khosla has directed donations toward Democratic candidates Sherrod Brown of Ohio, LaMonica McIver of New Jersey, and Roy Cooper of North Carolina. Nevertheless, he has reached across the aisle, contributing a total of $5,000 to Tennessee Republican Chuck Fleischmann’s congressional campaign.
With an estimated net worth of $13.7 billion, Khosla commands considerable financial resources. Born in Pune, India, he co-founded Sun Microsystems before establishing the venture capital firm Khosla Ventures in 2004, which has invested in major companies such as OpenAI, DoorDash, and Affirm.
Throughout his career, Khosla has contributed to both Democratic and Republican candidates, primarily basing his political support on their stance toward climate policy. Over the years, he has generally favored the Democrats. Khosla hosted Barack Obama for a fundraising dinner in 2013 and welcomed Joe Biden to his home in 2024.
He endorsed Hillary Clinton in the 2016 U.S. presidential election and threw his support behind Kamala Harris in 2024. In a social media discussion following Elon Musk‘s expression of support for Donald Trump, Khosla declared it was “hard for me to support someone with no values, lies, cheats, rapes, demeans women, hates immigrants like me.”
He also became part of “VCs for Kamala,” a coalition of more than 100 tech investors and entrepreneurs who backed Harris.
