LinkedIn cofounder Reid Hoffman after US mid-term election results: ‘Voters made clear they demand …’LinkedIn co-founder Reid Hoffman LinkedIn co-founder Reid Hoffman has delivered a sharp post-election assessment after the picture of who controls the US Senate became clear in the latest US midterm election results. A prominent political donor, Hoffman declared that the vote delivered a resounding mandate for systemic national change. Reflecting on the outcome, Hoffman said voters across the country have delivered a message about the direction of the nation. He also targeted Elon Musk saying that those who spent money to “keep authoritarian clowns in power” failed.

‘Blew the doors off our expectations’

Characterising the balloting as a broad repudiation of the current political status quo, Hoffman pointed to unexpected shifts across traditionally conservative and battleground states. Rejection across the map: According to Hoffman, the election results “blew the doors off our expectations,” citing voting patterns that spanned Texas, Ohio, Kentucky, Iowa, South Carolina and Indiana.A few thoughts on tonight’s election:Voters made clear they demand a different kind of country. Americans want an economy that can compete globally and deliver for them at home. And they made clear that they want leaders they can trust to fight for their constituents. This night blew the doors off our expectations. From Texas to Ohio, Kentucky to Iowa, and South Carolina to Indiana, voters rejected the status quo. Tonight’s lesson: Never discount any voter in any place.

Anti-Trump wave one of the reasons

Describing the returns as an “overwhelming wave against Trump and his cronies,” Hoffman insisted that the burden now shifts directly to Democrats to present an optimistic roadmap for the future and build an economy that serves all Americans, rather than merely the wealthy and well-connected.“These elections were an overwhelming wave against Trump and his cronies. Now it’s on Democrats to make a hopeful case for our future — to fight for an economy that serves every American, not just the already rich and powerful.”

Defending campaign donations and calling out Elon Musk

Addressing his own political financial contributions during this campaign cycle, Hoffman stated that while political spending as a whole needs reform, sitting out was not an option. He argued that individuals who have profited from American society carry a duty to protect and improve democratic institutions. On my donations this cycle:We should get money out of politics. And while people like Elon are spending outrageous amounts to keep authoritarian clowns in power, those of us who believe in the ideals of America cannot yield. Those who have benefited from American society have a responsibility to defend and improve it. That responsibility only grows when the DOJ is weaponized against Americans, as it has been against me and many others.I proudly support candidates with different platforms, who ALL believe in the rule of law, and the responsibility of the American economy to deliver prosperity for all Americans. To quote Samwise Gamgee: There is some good in the world, and it’s worth fighting for.
