I do think the West and ECOWAS letting Niger get couped will be something that over time is recognized as a decisive blunder in the region. Between creating the conditions for a pro-Russia junta alliance and fracturing regional cooperation against terrorists and rebels, I think the pain of this failure will compound over time. This base transfer is a highlight of the complete failure the Biden admin had in the region
