Romanian National Security Council declassifies evidence of Moscow’s ‘hybrid attacks’ benefiting pro-Putin Călin Georgescu

> The declassified documents also detailed how Georgescu’s campaign benefited from a massive co-ordinated campaign on social media that appeared to have had connections to foreign actors. SRI called it a “very well-organised promotion campaign”. Georgescu has declared zero funds spent in the campaign.

> The far-right candidate “benefited from preferential treatment” on TikTok because the Chinese social media platform did not label his videos as political ads. Romanian authorities also identified “Telegram and Discord channels where it was discussed how to co-ordinate and avoid being blocked on the platform”, concluding that such a campaign could only have been carried out by a foreign power.

It currently seems that the second round is going to go ahead as scheduled. With seemingly the entire Romanian political apparatus outside of his loyal fans united against him, we stand a good chance to defend our democracy. Wish us luck
