  1. It’s almost certainly over for Assad’s despotic regime. These are literally commanders of Quds force leaving who helped Assad make clear gains in Latakia, Palmyra, Raqqa etc. A huge L for the “nothing ever happens” crowd

    It’s always been a marriage of convenience between the Assadists and Iranian regime. Hafez Assad supported them when Saddam invaded. Lots of Shiite Islamists/Akhund (including ones literally in Iran) don’t even really consider Alawites to be Muslim cause Alawites are allowed to drink alcohol (specifically wine)+ their relatively secular lifestyle

    Thousands of Artesh soldiers (Iran’s regular army which is conscription based) got wounded or killed fighting for this monster over the years

  2. It’s surprising how long they managed to fight wars on five different fronts despite being heavily sanctioned and suffering from internal crisis

    Being Iran-backed isn’t a sign of military strength
