As for Democrats who complain that Fetterman’s decision to meet with Hegseth is giving Trump a bipartisan win, Fetterman said: “Those individuals can vent or rant on Twitter but I’m here to have conversations, and I think I’m just doing my job.”

Hot take this makes sense. He is coming from a purple state and you should always say you are open to hearing out a president nominee full well knowing you will vote them down. So when you say you will vote no it gives your statement much more weight.

  3. His state just flipped back to Trump, and kicked out their senior Senator for a GOP candidate. I don’t think Fetterman is being unreasonable here. He needs to make sure he’s in alignment with his constituents, which means he needs to be contrarian purple. His overarching populist tendencies should allow him to thread that needle pretty successfully
