Look I’m not going to bother arguing about how strong or weak the chinese economy actually is and whether this triumphalism is warranted, but:
If you think the Chinese government thinks they’re in a weaker situation than they were in 2016 with regards to a trade war with the US and so this can be leveraged into easily “winning” then you’re going to get a reality check. The GDP figures really do not tell the whole story.
