The part about the base cost getting higher ever year, and more money spent on medical benefits for personal vs actual war fighting capabilities, was pretty telling.
People wonder how China’s military has advanced so quickly, or why South Korea can build an AEGIS destroyer so cheap. The answer is in this article. It’s likely that China’s military spending is outpacing the US on warfighting capabilities when factoring in local costs.
It’s likely that despite the US winning the Cold War by outspending the soviets, they may be in danger of losing the next Cold War by outspending themselves.
