    >Mauritius says it has submitted changes to a proposed deal over the future of the Chagos Islands, with the country’s new PM saying the original agreement did not benefit his country enough.

  2. Cool, I like how everyone in that sub is OK with it except the China hawks who didn’t know the Chagos Islands existed before it came in the news.

I live near Crawley where most of the islanders live.

I do not care who owns the island as long as they have some form of right of return or compensated properly for their loss. The way they have been treated is an absolute stain and absolute shame.

  4. > UK Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer and Jugnauth called it a “seminal moment in our relationship and a demonstration of our enduring commitment to the peaceful resolution of disputes and the rule of law”.

    My brother in Christ

The International Court of Justice is literally next door to you in The Hague

If you wanted to resolve the issue peacefully and according to the rule of law you’d have brought the issue before the Court six decades ago

  5. The UK is giving up sovereignty of the islands in response to Mauritius’ extremely questionable territorial claim, and paying them for the privilege of doing so. My brother in Christ what more do you want.
