Good, compétition and diversified innovation are great for progress, love to see it

China just seems to be building a comparative advantage in everything, huh? This is the sorta thing that really makes me question this sub being so dogmatic against Industrial Policy.

We need to make it easier for employers to poach talent from the rest of the world. Plenty of top engineers and programmers would love to get visas to work in the US. Plenty of companies would likewise love to hire insanely talented people and bring them onto their teams. Simplify the visa process and make it highly cost effective. We can poach top talent from China, India, Russia and other countries.
We should also be doing more to grant residency visas to the hardworking researchers in our universities, making major breakthroughs, and some of whom won’t even have the opportunity to stay here and continue to contribute to our economy.
Our visa system is somewhat backwards and we can do a lot to improve it.
