> Around 3:15 a.m. local time, a man drove down Bourbon Street “at a very fast pace” and “was trying to run over as many people as he possibly could,” New Orleans Police Superintendent Anne Kirkpatrick said Wednesday. “This is not a DUI situation.”
> The suspect, who went around barricades to crash into the crowd, also fired on officers after he crashed the vehicle, Kirkpatrick said; 2 officers were shot but in stable condition. “He was hell bent on creating the carnage and the damage that he did,” Kirkpatrick said, noting the FBI would be taking over the investigation.
> FBI Special Agent in Charge for New Orleans, Alethea Duncan, said that “this is not a terrorist event.” “What it is right now is improvised explosive devices that was found and we are working on confirming if it was a viable device.”

A little more I found on the suspects vehicle:

A couple of things I picked up on the New Orleans sub:
1. Attacker was flying some sort of flag on the back of the truck they were driving. Cops have it covered in all of the photos I’ve found.
2. The attacker seems to have selected an EV pickup to maximize capability in this scenario, showing the level of planning that went into this. No way that was an accident.
