The German far-right party AfD adopted this weekend a radical program notably pushing for the end of the euro, a rejection of non-heterosexual families, opposition to mandatory childhood vaccinations, and the once-denied “remigration”, a neo-Nazi term referring to the mass deportation not only of immigrants, but also German citizens of immigrant ancestry and those who help them, even if the AfD promised to limit deportations to illegal immigrants.
Last year, the revelations by an investigative newspaper of a secret meeting between AfD executives and members of identitarian neo-Nazi movements in Potsdam to discuss a plan to deport millions of German residents and citizens on a racial and political basis had drawn massive crowds throughout Germany to protest the AfD.
One year later, the far-right party, that German authorities once considered as extreme enough to be possibly banned, is polling second at 20-22% before the snap elections on February 23.
The AfD was officially endorsed by future US cabinet member and Republican megadonor Elon Musk, who hosted a discussion with party leader Alice Weidel last week.
“Remigration” is also pushed by Austria’s probable next Chancellor Herbert Kickl.
