UK inflation unexpectedly cools to 2.5%, core price print slows further

Anyone else get the feeling that no-one actually understands how the UK economy works? Is it just headlines vying for attention, or is everyone actually constantly surprised by our rates of growth and/or inflation not being what they were expected to be?
