You know, I don’t think this will pass but I’m still scared as shit because U.S. politics are so unpredictable

That said, it’s just as disgusting now as it was a few days ago. If you’re going to abolish term limits (which I support), don’t be a coward and go the whole way

  3. > Trump “has proven himself to be the only figure in modern history capable of reversing our nation’s decay and restoring America to greatness, and he must be given the time necessary to accomplish that goal,” said Rep. Andy Ogles of Tennessee, who proposed extending the current maximum of two elected terms.

At this rate, I can’t rule out the GOP introducing a bill to outright abolish the Republic and install Trump as Absolute Monarch.

Even if it doesn’t pass, Trump will change the US in irreversible ways. For example, Biden kept the tariffs. Not to mention what Trump did to the Supreme Court and complete overhaul of institutions currently underway. And the torch will be passed to individuals like JD Vance and others who are even worse. A new era? Trump may be the last of the moderates rather than the first of extremists.

Democrats should support it with President Obama support and that Obama would be allowed to run for office.

Would it make closer to your Latin American republic? Yes. But it is hardly un-American, both Roosevelts run for third terms.

The prospect of running against Obama would probably be enough to call their bluff.

  6. For all the disdain Trump shows for LATAM he sure likes to emulate its demagogues and their practices.
