> BATON ROUGE, La. — A New York doctor was indicted by a Louisiana grand jury on Friday for allegedly prescribing an abortion pill online in the Deep South state, which has one of the strictest near-total abortion bans in the country.
> Grand jurors at the District Court for the Parish of West Baton Rouge issued an indictment against Dr. Margaret Carpenter; her company, Nightingale Medical, PC; and a third person. All three were charged with criminal abortion by means of abortion-inducing drugs, a felony.

Abortions haven’t actually dropped that much since Dobbs. That’s because the vast majority of abortions are done by pill, and doctors in blue states can prescribe them to patients in red states, with telemedicine. The Biden administration took specific steps to protect this. That’s gone now, and people get to learn that Trump’s “state’s rights” argument and other supposed moderation is total bs.

Will blue states comply with this shit?

I really, really hope blue states stop subsidizing these states abusing women. This needs to end.

If this prosecution goes through, it will effectively stop physicians from prescribing abortion pills across state lines.
Even if New York or other states refuse to sanction this doc, she can still be imprisoned in Louisiana and a GOP-controlled DEA can revoke the DEA license of a convicted felon.
I just can’t imagine many physicians would put their livelihood on the line for this, tragic as it is. Women seeking an abortion will need to travel to the nearest blue state to obtain an abortion.
