Syria’s new government appears to have banned the sale of flags with the face of the new president, Ahmed al Sharaa ( Jolani). This is as a policy to move away from personality cult of the Baathist era

Levant 24 is unfortunately still active on Twitter, and i won’t share its link
but both are pretty reliable and have been quoted by Western media

Jolani truly is the anti-Trump
* fought Russia
* promoted DEI in his organization ( nomination of women to position in the new government ,like Governor of Central Bank and the governor of Suwayda, who is now a Druze woman)
* boasted that 60% of university students in HTS controlled territories were women
* said in one of his speeches that he is satisfied Syrians no longer have to drown trying to cross the Mediteranean
* met the leaders of Christian communities and told them they have a place in the New Syria
* made Christmas an official holiday
* reformed the Idlib zoning code while he was ruling it
* promoted the use of solar power back in Idlib as a more reliable source of energy that cant be destroyed by bombardments
bonus: this photo of him meeting w**ith an all women delegation of the Syrian American diaspor**a ( i hate Instagram, but Fared al Mahlool, ma man, posts a lot of Syria related content there)
the president of US is a madman, while a former Al Qaeda warlord appears to know how to play the rules to reintegrate his country in the international community

man, i cant stop thinking about the fact that the leaders of Moldova, Ukraine, Syria, countries with a GDP per capita 30 times lower than US, are building more efficient and transparent institutions , while US its destryoing its institutions
Americans have had 250 years of democracy, some of the best quality of life in the world during all those years, pretty good educational systems, bellies full of delicious and nutritious food, they never had to worry about studying under bombardment or having to turn down heating during winter and sleep while clothed ( not all Americans, but the vast majority of them)
**and they are now blowing it all out for no good reason**
i hate the quote “Hard times create strong men. Strong men create good times. Good times create weak men. And, weak men create hard times.” , because its used by the far right ,but it unironically describes the American far right 100% accurately
Americans don’t know how good they have it , and 90% of their political problems come from this lack of realization
