Trudeau seems like he’s handled the Trump Tariff threats basically as well as anyone could have. THAT SAID, his government has caused Canada to become much more vulnerable to these threats. This is basically all covered here: https://www.noahpinion.blog/p/trudeau-was-a-poor-steward-of-canadas.
The cap gains tax expansion in particular now seems like a major misstep (which thankfully Carney and Freeland have both vowed to reverse). Also, while I don’t want to suggest Trump’s border concerns were reasonable or good faith, it is embarrassing that Trudeau’s immigration policies were so open to abuse that its lead to spikes in bogus Canadian asylum claims and irregular US border crossings.
