Without government, who would kidnap you for bumping a tree with your car?
In Florida, you can be charged with a hit and run if you hit a tree and don’t report it. You can face up to 6 months of jail, a fine, and 2 points on your license.
It’s a fucking tree. Hit and run is one thing if another driver was involved, but it’s a tree..

Best law. Does it also apply for animals? Trees are alive ya know.

Whose tree is it? Sounds like the government is protecting private property rights, as is it’s proper function.I think it turns into a criminal, instead of civil, matter when you flee the scene or don’t report it after a certain period of time, or are you proposing you have a right to damage others’ property?
There are many examples of government overreach, but I don’t think this is a good one.

I believe it’s called leaving the scene of an accident, and would apply to a tree, building, a street sign, mailbox, or another vehicle, even a parked one.
