Is it social inequality that causes conservatives to cheer on the idea of the US invading Greenland, Panama, Canada? I don’t think so.
For as much as social and economic inequalities are problems in American society, I think the specific threat to Canada comes from a particular type of bully mentality that Trump has fostered. A mentality that comes from the enjoyment of feeling strong, and I can’t easily draw that feeling towards a lagging middle class

My opinion- I think thats very charitable to the American electorate as they over and over again have shown their revealed preferences are not centering on economic concerns but on culture war concerns. Many of these people are quite well off and have chosen to fill their head with Fox News and Joe Rogan and TikTok conspiracy drivel and now here we are.

I don’t think that’s what’s really going on. But it’s probably smart politics right now. The Liberals are wise to draw the obvious contrast between their priorities and America’s priorities, while America acts like a villain.
