The home insurance apocalypse has arrived. The FAIR plan is running out of money, so homeowners across the state will have to help pay for the LA wildfire damage. The insurers will also be charged, and they will presumably need to pass that cost on to customers as well.

High insurance prices seems to be the only market driven way to discourage home development in high risk areas. Lord knows people will keep buying risky areas and the government seems uninterested in outlawing it.

Here a 2 statistics:
(1) On a statewide basis, the FAIR plan covers 5% of all California houses.
(2) In wildfire-prone areas of the state, the FAIR plan covers 16% of houses.
Now what does that tell you? In case the answer isn’t obvious: this dumb-*** scheme concocoted by Sacramento is subsidizing people who live in wildfire-prone areas, people who disproportionately *already* have more $$$ than the rest of the state.
Our government — Sacramento in particular (I live in California) — doesn’t really work for everyone anymore. They work for the rich and wealthy. And that sucks.
