There will be a time when the common American man, gradually, though perhaps for some suddenly, realizes that the very virtues no longer upheld by the government internationally have the same state of abandonment domestically. There will be a wave of contempt for the established order they’ve brought on themselves. But it will be even further from that point that the common man realizes the raw damage that has been done so far.

It will take years. Years to fix all of this. Even if we have a perfect president in 2028 with a will to re-organize our government to never let this happen again, so much has been undone. So much we have to work back from the foundation and up to re-do. There will be a death toll for these actions, adhering to Russia and all. But also to every bit of soft power that helped hundreds of thousands of lives directly. There will be a death toll for all of this. It will be high. [It will be incredibly high.](https://www.dw.com/en/south-africa-usaid-cuts-could-prompt-over-500000-hiv-deaths/a-71777420)

    but joe biden sleepy.

  2. It’s crazy but seeming likely. The European leaders were ready with messages of support while the Orbans or Lex Fridmans were ready to run with the talking point that Zelensky was “rude” or whatever might justify dropping support for Ukraine. People knew this was coming

I thought the exact same thing while I was watching. Vance stepped in to make sure things went off the rails.

  4. During the meeting it’s obvious they had planned it

    J.D
    > Have you ever said thank you once?

    Zelenskyy

    > Yes, a lot of times.

    J.D.: (wagging finger)

    > No—have you said thank you once in this entire meeting? You went to Pennsylvania and campaigned for the opposition in October. (looks at camera) …

    > Offer some words of appreciation to the United States of America (touches Trump) and the president who is trying to…. SAVE… YOUR… COUNTRY.

    Zelenskyy

    > Please…. you think if you speak very loudly, you—

    Trump (interrupts abruptly)

    > He’s not speaking loudly… he’s not speaking loudly… (raises voice) your country’s in BIG TROUBLE.

    Zelenskyy

    > Can I answer?

Trump: (cuts him off, waving hand dismissively)

    > No, wait a minute… you’ve done enough talking… YOUR COUNTRY’S IN BIG TROUBLE.

    > YOU’RE NOT WINNING…. YOU’RE NOT WINNING.

    Zelenskyy

    > Mr. President, we have stayed in our country, stayed strong. From the very beginning of the war, when we were alone. And we are thankful. I said thank you.

    Trump:

    > You haven’t been alone. (Touches Zelenskyy) You haven’t been alone. (touches Zelenskyy again) We gave you— (touches Zelenskyy once more) —through this stupid president, $350 billion. We gave you military equipment.

    > And your men are brave. But they had to use our military.

    Zelenskyy

    > What about—

    Trump

    >(**suddenly pushes Zelenskyy’s arm aside, leans in**) If you didn’t have our military equipment— (**raises voice**) —IF YOU DIDN’T HAVE OUR MILITARY EQUIPMENT

    Zelenskyy

    > You invited me to speak—

    Trump

    > IF YOU DIDN’T HAVE OUR MILITARY EQUIPMENT, THIS WAR WOULD HAVE BEEN OVER IN TWO WEEKS.

    Zelenskyy

    > In three days—I heard it from Putin. (waves hand)

  5. My personal conspiracy is that Vance didn’t like the minerals deal Kellogg negotiated and intentionally rage baited Zelensky so the deal wouldn’t be signed.
