I’ve always thought that the left and democrats had issues when it came to listening to men about men’s problems, and therefore would only take men’s issues seriously if they were spearheaded by a woman. Not only is this a good strategy politically, it’s a good strategy socially and ethically. Yes, men enjoyed a social and economic advantage for, well, most of human history. But the boys and young men of today grew up in an environment where women and girls have had disproportionate support, and questioning that support had you labelled as a crybaby or a misogynist.
This could also mean she’s building support and a coalition for a 2028 run.

This is actually a really great way to approach things: Make helping men an explicit policy goal, make material proposals on how to accomplish this, tie that goal it in with the wider Democratic social justice agenda, and do it all without enabling misogynistic grievance culture.
Really hope to see more high-profile Democrats talking about mens’ issues more often, and in roughly the same manner as Whitmer.

Good on Big Gretch for recognizing this. I’m unfortunately still reticent to say that a woman could win in 2028, but if anything she gets the fact that men and women voters are drifting dramatically away from each other. Could it get like Korea or Japan where it feels that men and women just simply seem to hate each other? I don’t know, but the trends do point in that direction, and there’s an imperative to course correct this.

Finding whatever method works to get depressed, anxious, and/or jobless men (me_irl, alas) out of the orbit of the manosphere is a critical national security issue at this point. Big ups to Gov Gretch for stepping up to the plate and swinging.

The problem is there isn’t actually anything she can do differently that doesn’t involve throwing other groups under the bus. On paper she has actually been great for young men with things like free community college or trade school and increasing the minimum wage.

If it was a problem when men outpaced women in education and home buying, and now it’s a problem that women are outpacing men in education and home buying… when will there no longer be a problem? When the government somehow gets it to exactly 50/50? This is a serious question, because if you divide these statistics by gender, one will always come out slightly ahead, and no one is stating what gap would be acceptable.
