Primary Schumer and primary anyone who votes for this car that hands the GOP a mandate to ignore congressional funding.

Guys, being the cause of a government shutdown isn’t the gigabrain move you think it is and far from stopping Trump/musk, he’ll just spin it against the Dems cause he and the republicans are far more effective messengers. This would quite literally blow up in the Dems face and take the focus away from the million things Trump is doing wrong. Pass the CR and move on, not really a choice. We have other things to do to oppose Trump.

Meh more anonymous sources. May as well be a gossip column. Yesterday Dem senators said Republicans lack the votes. Today anonymous sources say Dems don’t wanna shut down the gov? Whatever.

I know this is crazy talk, but maybe being a minority party, almost completely out of power, means that Democrats don’t have as much leverage as activists think it does.

I think it makes sense. Matthew Yglesias’s argument was persuasive to me. It might feel good to “fight” but Democrats need to recognize that they actually don’t have much if any power being in the minority. When Democrats block the CR what is the exit strategy? What is the path to winning?
Trying to set up a midterm victory instead of just being preoccupied with “fighting” seems more productive.
His mention of Andor was pretty interesting:
> I liked this trailer for Andor where he says “you’re in a war — do you wanna fight or you wanna win?”
> I understand that people have mixed feelings about this and I sincerely understand the impulse to want to fight.
