Can you imagine what Arabia would look like right now if their rulers were spending all that unbelievable wealth on developing the country instead of bizarre architectural pipe dreams, high class prostitutes, and fancy cars?

Actually shameful behavior. Their descendants will not look back kindly on them.

Well duh. Their building The Line when we all know the ideal form of Urban Design is The Cube.

Saudi Arabia and much of the gulf monarchies megaprojects are basically what lefties accuse capitalism in the West as.

  4. Oh man those McKinsey consultants pulling off $130 million to point out the obvious. Respect.

Even if they managed to build it, a linear city in the middle of the desert sounds like a Bond villain’s wet dream. Get that giant space mirror thing from die another day, just melt the whole city in one go with a big laser.

That’s weird. Because everything I’ve ever heard about this project was nothing but positive assumptions and critics saying that it was going to work out just fine. So yeah it’s really really weird to hear of this project failing after hearing of its astronomically high chance of success for so long

  7. Saudi Arabia, basically what happens, wenn an ambitous religious bumpkin wins the lottery. And keeps winning it every week for two generations.
