The only warning that they had was Trump repeatedly saying he would do things like this

    >“When the hurricanes went through in North Carolina, our industry shut down for two weeks,” Riggio said. “All the loggers went there and cut the trees off the road. The Amish brought their own wagons. It wasn’t FEMA, it wasn’t the government. It was the logging industry that made sure that the roads were open and clear so that any help could get in there

Sure, and you did all of the work for free? All of you equipment costs were free? FEMA Reimbursed the local government to pay you for this work, you idiot.

I did some quick googling about Seth Riggio who is interviewed in the article.

He’s the director of log exports for a company in LA, and also does political campaign consulting and is a hardcore republican. I don’t understand why anyone would think their industry would be spared from the obvious counter tariffs a trade war would bring, just a huge level of cognitive dissonance.

A real case of I didn’t think the leopards would eat my face

Anecdotal, but in my experience loggers make farmers look like the Middlebury Socialists.

  5. “It’s not that we’re against the tariffs,” Riggio added. “It’s not that we want to take beef with Trump’s government. No — we like what he’s doing. But we just need help here.”

Well well if it isn’t the consequences of my actions.
