A friend of mine pointed this story out to me and I haven’t seen much traction in it. If you work in tech you have almost certainly encountered CVE before. It’s a database of all known cyber security flaws with recommendations on how to fix the flaws. I work as a software engineer and, for example, we recently had to fix an issue with our software that had a CVE due to an outdated version of an Apache product that needed to be updated to a newer version. Without funding for CVE, every single company in the world is at significantly increased risk for falling victim to cybercrime.

So stupid. It’s a tiny sum for something that literally every company in America (I know they don’t care about the rest of the world) uses.
