[Column] Even the mighty dollar may fall: We may soon see an era of currencies competing for reserve status

The role of currency reserve has faded over time as many of the things that made those useful have ceased to make sense, and as a result it is likely that the decline of the dollar wont result in the rise of any other currency but instead towards a more freefloating, decentralized currency trade where each two countries trade with their own currencies and where the few needs to hedge currencies against each other are done with metal or other reserves
