My company makes specialized membrane filters out of Chinese polysulfone (there are no US based suppliers of the materials we need in large enough quantities). We were gearing up for a $5M production run (huge for our smallish company) for a chain of dairies in MI (these filters can separate the protein and whey in milk to make cheese). Then the tariffs hit and the customer couldn’t afford the price increase so canceled the project and order. Our entire manufacturing department (45 people) were laid off the next week and the company is in danger of closing entirely.
