Each week, I tutor adults who are working on their high school equivalency tests (GED, HI-SET, and similar). This is a constant problem for them — they have no idea what their week-to-week schedules will look like, so finding time to do things like attend literaccy classes (or even care for their children) is basically impossible. So many of them would graduate from my program faster—and thus move on to better jobs—if they had consistent hours.
