It's really interesting how leftists claim the Socialist Revolution will solve all the social ills, contrary to historical evidence of the human rights abuses, environmental disasters and persecution of LGBTQ folks and sometimes even ethnic minorities under communist regimes, meanwhile YIMBYism is oft undersold relative to how it will be transformative.

Not just the obvious housing affordability being an end unto itself, but the environmental benefit of shorter commutes, less heating energy per capita, better integration of transit through more density and tax revenue, less social isolation and such. On top of that, it's a reproductive and LGBTQ rights issue, as more housing in blue states will make it more feasible for people fleeing state laws that infringe on gay, trans, and abortion rights, as well as similarly discriminatory foreign nations, not just in terms of housing affordability, but raw number of vacancies available. Similarly it's a disability rights issue, as people living on SSI or constrained to low paying careers/ less hours will be able live closer to urban centers, for more community integration and better services. Social services of all types will be able to be more expansive from being more tax-efficient from lessened land rents, as well as higher tax revenue. Also, the opportunity for tolerant society to have more representation in the house of reps as well as electoral college will be strengthened.
