The 2nd Intifada put in on life support and October 7th killed it. The security fears because of the terrorism, rocket attacks, and (after October 7th) direct invasion by Palestinian militant groups direct invasion has convicted most Israelis that Palestinians will never live peacefully with them, and the only way forward is brutal repression. I am sad for the future, as the conflict may never be resolved without a willingness to compromise on both sides, which has become increasingly unlikely with time
