Heavy investment in clean energy and industries serve as a unique opportunity for emerging economies both as a matter of combating climate change which is poised to affect them severely and as a matter of economic development. As renewable energy becomes less expensive and more effective, countries in the sun belt can invest in it to reduce energy intensity and wean themselves off a need for fossil fuels which aside from harming the environment also behold these emerging economies to the myriad oil nations of the world and expose them to economic difficulties caused by potential supply shocks. Of course to achieve this, a great deal of investment is needed, that can hopefully be achieved through the cooperation of wealthy nations, international organisations, and other such actors. Of course with ratfucking pig bastards like Trump in charge, this task becomes more difficult but hopefully with international cooperation and coordination, we see great steps taken towards decarbonisation in our times.
