I think Russia has reached a point of no return in Ukraine. It’s the sunk cost faliciy as in phenomina where the only way a million casualties can be justifed is if the victory is total. Russia cannot sell this war to their people for just the Donbas.

Russia is going to drag this out until either the win or Putin’s regime collapse. He has too much take in this war and Russian nationalists are not going to accepts any sort of Western alligned or Western Oriented Ukraine.

Thank you Vlad for finally saying what anyone with a brain has been saying for years now

  3. Let’s just say for the sake of argument that this brutal war of attrition ends and a war of movement culminates in a Russian sweep of the entire country.

Does Putin think Russia can successfully occupy Ukraine without it turning into Afghanistan x10? Ukraine has been a nation, but this brutal war has bonded its people in the crucible. There will be relentless partisan activity everywhere. Right now, Russia occupies areas with a populace with somewhat split feelings or even overt Russian sympathies. As they push West, that will change.
