In case you didn’t know, airconditioning is essentially illegal in new build homes in the UK and many other Northern European countries. Its part of a strand of climate related degrowth-esque thinking that was dominant in planning 10-20 years ago.
These policies needs to be revised given that summers are hotter, air-to-air heatpumps are great for cooling _and_ heating, and summer energy consumption synergizes well with solar energy limiting carbon impact.
Continued opposition just strikes me as luddite behavior at this point. Luckily, public opinion seems to be changing.
