Honestly, this doesn’t make any sense in my opinion.
We live in exciting times. Thats for sure. America is going to be simultaneously running two big (and kinda crazy) experiments. This guy and Donald Trump.
He’s right. I truly do not understand all the pearl clutching around this guy.
Before Elon Musk created DOGE, I might have disagreed with Zohran. But after seeing what a man with that kind of wealth is capable of doing to our country, I think I agree that we should try to limit the accumulation (or at least the deployment) of that much wealth.
Ok? What are you going to do to bring about their inexistence?

At this point it’s kinda hard to disagree. Modern billionaires are straight up parasites who don’t engage in philanthropy or charity like the wealthy men of old. For all their faults, at least people like Vanderbilt or Carnegie knew that their fortunes were built on the backs of other people and the country that enabled it and endeavored to give back in some way through libraries and universities and charities.
People like musk or thiel just keep making things worse as they hoard money and power, having obscene influence on politics as everything crumbles for the lower classes.
There is no world where, in a democratic country, somebody should be able to pump hundreds of millions into an election and get rewarded by being given power to shape the entire executive branch with zero oversight.
Billionaires do have outsize political influence and we should seek to curtail that, but I think this is in the socialist playbook because it focuses on the most egregious examples of the furthest extremes of capitalism and not how it has uplifted the global poor. It seems like a really reasonable argument to the average person and is an on ramp to this ideology. But it really serves to distract from any good that capitalism provides.
