    always thought this would be a good idea for any desert, since panels covering the land reduces water evaporation from the soil, and concentrates rain water on the soil between the panels

    this means that effectively soil between pannels gets like twice the precipiations yearly that it got before

    for marginal land between deserts and steppe, this is enough to allow vegetation to regrow

    only problem: clearing the pannels from sands would likely require water or air cleaning( some energy costs, but likely not more than 10% of total solar output)

    and suddenly ,desert land becomes valuable , no matter what is or isnt underneath it
