During the Vietnam War, U.S. helicopter gunners were reportedly issued experimental red tinted night vision glasses known as Dicyanin glasses. Far from just enhancing vision in the dark, these devices allegedly allowed soldiers to see into another dimension filled with terrifying creatures invisible to the naked eye. Some accounts claim the gunners began firing wildly at unseen monsters only they could see.

The idea echoes the plot of John Carpenter’s They Live, where special glasses reveal hidden beings living among us. A similar case in Russia involved a man who obtained a fragment of alleged UFO glass. When viewed through it, a hovering craft reportedly became visible in the sky but only through the lens.

Filmed on location in Hanoi, this deep dive looks at the strange intersection of military experimentation, altered perception, and the possibility of hidden dimensions.

Discovered by Walter Kilner in 1911 who wrote the book The Human Atmosphere. You can see human auras using specific lighting and the dye stained glasses, so you can visually see if a person is healthy or not just by looking at their aura.

I’ve been a soldier sitting in the night with green night vision and watching people and that’s creepy enough. If it was red and I was tired and traumatized and possibly on some stimulant or psychedelic in Vietnam it would definitely seem demonic haha
