Sen. Slotkin unveils her new Economic War Plan for Democrats: back to basics with economics – and she is abundance pilled

Sen. Elissa Slotkin, Dem from Michigan, thinks the no. 1 national security threat is the eroding middle class which becomes vulnerable to demagoguery and the end of the democratic experiment. Her prescription is a multi-point plan in this speech https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pbFiKN48UxI :

1.) Jobs for the middle class by

a) Investing in small businesses and simplifying taxes, licensing, patents, and regulations

b) Reshoring parts of critical supply chains like military hardware, food, pharmaceuticals, and microchips through a 10 year industrial policy. Slotkin concedes we will never build "Rubix cubes or ladies razors" here again, but we should reshore parts of manufacturing that are necessary.

c) Immigration Reform. A new system that sets visa caps by national labor needs. Abandon "comprehensive immigration reform" and just approach piecemeal bills. Invest in border security

d) Companies should loose eligibility for tax benefits if they don't give benefits to their workers

2.) Education

a.) invest heavily in community colleges, trade schools, certification programs, and apprenticeships

b) Keep education accessible by putting guardrails on college costs and student loans

c) K-12: recruit and pay teachers better, keep class sizes low, thoughtfully introduce ai while balancing critical thinking. Ban cell phones in every K-12 school in America

**3.) Declare a housing emergency and spur the building of 4 million homes. She says too much regulation makes it hard to build.

b) Give incentives for communities to change zoning codes

c) She shouts out all the talk about abundance right now, saying it's good but her plan needs to measure the success through actual new homes being built**

4.) An "all of the above" approach to energy – don't favor or punish one form of energy over another. She includes nuclear in this strategy.

5.) Don't be elitist or purity spiral about climate change. Bring in as many people as possible to the cause.

6.) Healthcare

a) She supports a public option with the ability to negotiate drug prices

b) Make drug pricing transparent

7) Civic reform

a) Ban corporate PACs

b) Ban members of Congress from trading stocks and cryptocurrencies

I'm not sure on a couple items, but overall Slotkin makes a lot of sense and is pragmatic. I could see her running for President in the distant future some day.
