Went to the movies with my mom and were confused when we got in the theater to discover we were the only people there. When we bought tickets it showed that half the theater was taken. I believe they are doing this so that people purchase tickets online in fear that they will be sold out if they buy them in person. They also charge over $2 per ticket purchased online as a “processing fee”. Movie begins at 7:05. Here is the picture I took at 7:00pm featuring my mom:

    1. I suspect that some smaller studios will do fund raising in a way that you buy one ticket and gift one. Sometimes those gifted tickets end up like this and the smaller studio gets to claim $$XXM box office receipts on opening weekend.

    2. Someone said that people book seats so they can bypass paying for parking in certain malls. so it looks like they saw the film. That’s obv for people with a membership.
