In light of the recent hostage swap, [in this post](https://open.substack.com/pub/deadcarl/p/the-danger-and-usefulness-of-the?r=1ro41m&utm_campaign=post&utm_medium=web&showWelcomeOnShare=true) I go over why Ukraine (and many of its supporters) have few warm feelings towards the Russian opposition. These figures, despite their opposition to Putin, both feed Western naivete about the potential for a friendly Russia to come about and continue to perpetuate myths of Russian exceptionalism.
