Probably an unpopular take but they need to be taken private and overhauled. So long as they are having to report earnings they won’t rip the bandaid like they need to. Lots of promise but execs are afraid of rocking the boat.

If the US wants to have a domestic state of the art semiconductor fab for critical defense components fine. I may not fully agree with that but I understand the reasoning.
Additional subsidies are never going to make a US chip manufacturer competitive on the global stage though.
