Abundance Is Necessary But Not Sufficient

Abundance is something that would majorly help without even really costing anything in most cases, while also helping more conventional liberal economic policy too

For example with housing. Slash supply side restraints and you won’t magically make everything ok, but you will make things a lot better. And you’ll also make more conventional liberal housing policy easier. Not “public housing” which is trash. But the idea of expanding section 8 vouchers. Recently making section 8 an entitlement has been estimated to cost around $1t over 10 years, not an impossible spending ask for a real D trifecta, but a tough spend especially when Dems want to do other things too. But if we loosen the supply side, those costs will go down, making “making section 8 an entitlement” more fiscally feasible

Abundance isn’t a panacea but it’s something that will help, and it’s not like abundance advocates are saying abundance is all that we need anyway. Just like doctors who futilely say “please stop eating so much, you are harming your health” to 70% of the population aren’t saying “eating less will cure everything” or that various people don’t need other health interventions and treatments and such too
