I increasingly don’t see how this whole thing does not escalate to a war in the next decade. There is just no way Taiwan peacefully accepts reunification, no way that China gives up or accepts some ”one country, two governments” compromise. Xi seems to actually want to do the thing while he rules, and China seems to have a huge manufacturing edge, which will be a deciding factor in case of a protracted war.
