  1. Babe wake up. New DA right wing hire scandal just dropped.

John Steenhuisen is the leader of the Democratic Alliance and the Minister of Agriculture. He has appointed a right wing podcaster who previously started The Capitalist Party as his chief of staff. This individual’s Twitter history is allegedly controversial, and he has apparently scrubbed it.

    News24 reports:

    > Meanwhile, social media is abuzz after Cabanac cleansed his X (formerly known as Twitter) timeline, deleting most of his posts.

    > Cabanac has come under fire for questioning or denying the veracity of the Sharpeville massacre.

    > In one of his tweets, he attributed South Africa’s functioning “largely thanks to Boers and Muslims having a lot of guns”.

    > Posts of Cabanac brandishing firearms on his social media also surfaced.

    > In another tweet, he made remarks about Xhosa-speaking people flocking to the Western Cape.

    > In July 2022, he tweeted: “The mass immigration of poor Xhosas into the Western Cape has left a battered coloured community fighting for resources. Gatvol Capetonian, ethno-nationalist coloured organisation want to protest,” he wrote.

    > In May, he tweeted: “Bantu people, much like Arabs, are not democratic people. They are monarchists at heart.”
