The UK's Online Safety Act has not just added age verification for pornography, but also for online alcohol and drugs mentions, transgender spaces and mentions of IDF war crimes. One of the highest officials at OFCOM said that children could get around any pornography blocks in "20 seconds". It isn't about protecting children, its about censoring online media and this is only the start.
In the EU and US, extremely similar acts are bring passed, almost consecutively. The EU movement would restrict online privacy with mass surveillance and yet is funded by redacted names and unknown donors called the High Level Group. The UK's age verification company is also funded by billionaire Peter Thiel's company Palantir.
I believe that some very rich people have all agreed to push this censorship and after the first wave, it will become illegal to own a VPN.
