If those 2 held power in literally any Western state they’d be sanctioned lol they are genocidal maniacs. Israeli politicians are obviously held to a different standard but at a certain point the West has to stand on business.

I think the more that people learn about how Ben Gvir and Smotrich are explicitly acting against our interests the American people will make it quite clear that we have had enough of this insanity tbh

I would be willing to embrace sanctions that are stronger as well, not just more expansive. I’m not sure how feasible or legal it is, and it might just be me being non-credible, but maybe we should consider some kind of ‘spite sanction’: something punitive that goes beyond inconvenience for a targeted individual and moves closer towards the infliction of misery.
Currently Itamar Ben-Gvir is not sanctioned at all, but if we did apply sanctions to him, the worst he could expect would probably be travel bans, and maybe some financial restrictions. It’s an inconvenience, but it’s something he can adapt to, and something that isn’t going to crush his spirit into compliance. We can go much, much further.
No doubt he uses software produced in the United States. Cut his subscriptions without refunding, and ban the sale of those things to him. Extend this to people that give him financial support. Put him on a blacklist for all American fast food chains in Israel. Gently suggest to various social media companies that he should be banned, although do not push the issue because then it gets into issues of freedom of speech. Have the State Department order scores of useless Amazon deliveries every day to his house. Astroturf a viral TikTok trend that encourages people to follow him and loudly play the sound of nails on chalkboard every time he is out in public.
Something like that, I guess. It would probably damage the prestige of American diplomacy if it became a habit, unfortunately.
