    Submission Statement:

Dr. Adriana D. Kugler will step down from her position as governor of the Federal Reserve Board, effective August 8, 2025. Prior to her term’s expiration in [Edit: January] ~~~August~~~ of 2026. She will return to her professorship at Georgetown University.

This will allow President Trump to appoint a Fed Governor subject to the advice and consent of the Senate. It is relevant to this community as central bank independence is very important for price stability. The specter of American Peronism haunts Wall Street.

  2. This seems rather bad, why would she step down? I mean I understand not wanting the job, but if you’re in a safe position and Trump is appointing your replacement, I feel like the best course of action is to hunker the fuck down for as long as you can

I know zero context here, so I’m not judging her outright, but to an idiot (me) this just looks bad

Hopefully this isn’t a sign that Powell and the rest of the board don’t have a spine.

  4. WTF. I understand her term is up soon anyway, and maybe she doesn’t like the job, but does she seriously think Trump getting to make yet another appointment sooner, before the chair position is up, is a good—or fine—thing?

I know Fed terms are long and that might limit their other lucrative prospects but come on! Georgetown would no doubt wait for her to finish her term. She’d be on boards for life…. Starting a year later is no prob.

    WTF.
