I assume that this thread will have comments either from people who

    A. Think there’s nothing wrong with it
    B. Think it’s racist & promotes egoism & female objectivism
    C. Opted out long ago & just don’t really care about the ad itself or any conversation about it

What’s concerning to me is that people are so easily influenced by simple things. This ad worked because it pitted the fat left vs the far right, and people in the middle are going to shop at American eagle if they want to anyway. I understand it’s a clothing company not operated by any politicians, but what they are guilty of is playing into the hands of stupid people & politicians. There was a whole argument at work today about this topic. My argument was that while I disagree with the ad, there is a point to be made, and it’s that if it were a black woman there would be no uproar except from the right. And since it’s a white woman it’s coming from the left.
The real conspiracy is to keep people so distracted and arguing amongst themselves that they don’t realize that none of these things matter. I can’t stand it when someone says they’re “woke” and sits and goes on a huge rampage about why something is wrong or offensive. What are halls thoughts?
