It’s a pretty disappointing article. Pedro Sanchez, the heroic social democrat… who, according to polls, is going to get clobbered in the next elections, In part it’s because a lot of Spain is catching the right wing populist bug, but also because his administration is undoubtedly a corrupt mess. He is a man with no beliefs, other than he should remain in power. Most of his environment has corruption cases against them, and he’ll always claim he knows nothing. All while he concentrates power and believes that an independent judiciary is a bad idea.
So, if anything, he is the guy that is going to sink all that movement for refusing to leave, and maybe give a chance to someone less toxic to run instead.
And as for Spain’s advantages of having hundreds of millions of speakers of their language living in poorer countries, it’s not somethin that is easy to copy. Maybe we should go with the tree planting meme. The best time to do colonialism was 500 years ago, the second best time is today?
Spain is doing great by having pretty open borders (although work permits should come FAR faster), but this article is Not Great.

Bro PSOE is losing its vote share to VOX. Literally VOX is the only party benefitting from PSOE’s drop in the polling. That kind of implies culturally conservative PSOE voters are shifting right en masse, and we might be seeing some youth support bleeding to them as well.
