    1. yep data centers and bit coin mining require ridiculous amounts of energy.

Data center power demand could double by 2030 to 35 GW, enough electricity to power 40 million U.S. houses

[No one knows how much energy is currently consumed by crypto mining in the U.S.](https://earthjustice.org/experts/mandy-deroche/cryptocurrency-miners-need-to-report-their-energy-use) because unlike other major energy-using industries in the country, the U.S. Energy Information Administration (EIA) does not collect that information for crypto mining. But in Texas alone, [crypto miners requested an additional 39 GW of power](https://www.ercot.com/files/docs/2024/02/06/LLI-Queue-Status-Update-2024-1-25.pdf) by 2027.

    2. It’s due to power usage at data centres. I read that it may take 40k AI nanos to do the task of one human but if the data centres, electricity costs are placed on to the everyday person, then it doesn’t matter how much it costs a company.

Then I read about Microsoft and massive companies buying power plants out whole, for the usage they need for new data centres. We are heading for terminator 2.

The answer has to be a national effort to find new sources of energy.

You cannot shut down the AI revolution now. If you stifle it, you end the US’ dominance and usher in a world ran by China.

We have to get over this subservience to fossil fuels. Open up the flood gates of nuclear (obviously make the AI companies pay for it) Otherwise we will be left in the dust.
